September 2012
Damien Minton Gallery, Sydney
Created in collaboration with Donna Sgro and exhibited as part of INTERWOVEN, staged by the Design Institute of Australia Textile Practice Group
DISLOCATIONS is a series of three textile works that investigate disruptive image and pattern ‘making’.
The three works were hand-screen printed in monochromatic half-tones, then sliced and reconstructed through stitching, emphasising the disruptive nature of the pattern.
Disruptive imagery has been developed in relation to textiles in the area of camouflage. Using a different principle of disruptive imagery, these works investigate how other approaches and adaptations of image and pattern construction can disrupt the visual within a creative-practice context.
